WEST HAM PARK

Welcoming,
Helpful and

Positive

The Friends were formed in July 2006, with the support of the City of London and the park management team.

We meet, informally, four times a year, to discuss and plan our objectives, one of which is to follow an ongoing calendar of activities that everyone can be a part of - for as much or as little as they wish.

We also meet up on the many occasions we wander through the ornamental gardens, the open spaces or participating in our numerous activities.

A Personal View of West Ham Park

My husband Roger and myself moved into our flat in Stratford in June 2005. We also live near Derby, and were looking for a London base to ease Roger's long commute into central London from Derby. We have two dogs, who commute between the two houses with me (by train), and when we had a look at the area near to our proposed flat, and found West Ham Park, that clinched the deal! Since I have been based in Stratford part-time, I have explored quite extensively with my dogs, and realised that we could not have chosen a better base for us all.  I visit the park at least once every day that I am in Stratford, and never fail to enjoy the sense of open space and tranquility. I particularly enjoy the sense of stillness that comes with a low morning or evening sun slanting through the trees. There is always something to see as the seasons change, the bird species come and go, and the wide variety of park users enjoy themselves. The gardens are a particular delight, even though they make me remember that there is a lot of work needed in my Derby garden. I am pleased to be involved with FWHP and feel even more able to describe WHP as 'my' park.
